Dear 2022,

You have been such a wonderful year full of surprises for me. Indeed 2022 was a year of a comeback! The world resumed from the fright 2020 & 2021 gave us. We have been a far more mature version of ourselves. We do foresee the fear, and we do foresee the terror, but inside we have educated ourselves to face it. I believe 2022 was a year when people became a better version of themselves. 2022 was a milestone of decisiveness, bold moves, and a step toward strength and dignity. For all those who made me a better version of myself and met me in 2022, I would be indebted to return all I owe them. I am the most fortunate to not only meet the new, but to also reconnect with the lost, and revitalize my circle with people far wiser and better than I am. 2022 opened up the actions of mindfulness, resolute, and purpose. Thank you 2022, and all those who met me and gave me the best of Life!!!

I was asking myself what would I write today for you 2022. Because without writing anything for you it would be half-done. I was telling myself that there is no story with me right now, but you finally gave me a story worth sharing. And this story is about “Humanity”.

I saw a person who wasn’t able to talk, didn’t have money, had nothing to eat, and was hungry on the street. They call such a person a ‘beggar’. This word must be removed from the English dictionary and to do this it will take human actions and efforts much more than crawling down the vocabulary texts. Just nearby is an eatery. Families and bachelors come there to eat food and have their day. We are so engrossed in our routine, we forget humanity. No one bothered to care that a person is sitting hungry near a place where everyone eats to the fullest. It is an impression of Money purchasing the goodness, an impression that wellness is paid.

I couldn’t help without giving that person two idlis. I purchased two idlis and kept them near him, standing at some remote corner. For 5 mins he didn’t even understand what I did. I was observing him from another corner. After I left him aloof, he would have understood from the smell and warmth of the pack that he got some food. He was so desperate, he mindlessly tore the box and found food. It was a very unexpressed sentiment to see how he started to eat as if he had never seen something as cheap as idli in days.

A security guard nearby asked me if the person said something to me. I said no, and told him that he was hungry, and couldn’t help without giving him some food. I was thinking if he wanted water, but by that time I would purchase a bottle of packaged water and give him he was nowhere. It felt why I didn’t give him water along with idli? It also felt how would he feel to see a bottle of packaged water? I don’t know!!!

Finally, it only felt that no one must ever land in that situation. Every human deserves a good and respectful life. It is not always the accountability of Money to lead a good Life, the very seed of good living comes from the Mind first and not from Money. We can shape our actions to make life beautiful and worth Living.

The present of that unknown person tells us how inhuman the world goes. We easily forget the good we have with us and complain about the luxury we don’t have. Instead, we must not forget the darkest part life may give us, if we don’t learn to grow, develop and respect our possession.

I understand that there are many aspects and standpoints to this incident. I would love to hear these in the comments and hear from you folks on what are your thoughts about this…

This is brief and short that I have for today. Many exciting things are on the plan list to make sure 2023 should become an even better year, a healthier year, and a year to recall just like the year 2022!! Thank You 2022, for the lessons you gave all of us!!! We are waiting to embrace 2023!!!

Yours,

Vaishnavi R.
